How do I get the perfect smokey eye? How do I get that Marilyn liquid liner? How do I get amazing cheekbones? Questions every woman wants answered…
The answer is simple…
BRUSHES!!!!
Brushes are the key to any successful makeup application. I am sure there are still a few women out there, who use the sponge tip applicator that comes with the eyeshadow they bought from the chemist. Gone are the days of the 80’s one wash of colour over the whole eye lid. With trends changing it’s time to get with the times!
I know the idea of investing in brushes may be daunting to some, it doesn’t need to be! If you take proper care of your brushes they will pay for themselves. You don’t have to rush out and buy a whole set either.
Rae Morris released an AMAZING set of brushes this year, and the exciting news is they are now available individually. You can now pic your must haves from the 27 brushes to choose from.
If you are a bit unsure of where to start, here are my must haves for a brush beginner!
Brush 11: Medium oval shadow brush is perfect for that base wash of colour over the eye, you can also use the tip of the brush to get the smudgy smokey effect under the eye.
Brush 8: Medium precision shader brush is ideal for creating a socket and blending eye shadow. Apply your second deeper shade in the socket for more definition. You can also use the brush as a blender when free of product, for a soft edge. I tend to double up on this brush, as it saves cleaning between colours.
Brush 16: Angle brow and mascara definer brush. The great thing about this brush is that you get two brushes in one. The Angle brow brush is perfect for defined brows or gel eye liner. If you prefer a more natural brow, use the mascara definer brush to brush them up.
Brush 1: Get flawless cheekbones with the Deluxe Kabuki brush. Just a small amount of powder blush will glide smoothly onto the cheek.
*Remember take care of your brushes as you would your own hair. Shampoo and condition after use to keep them soft and fluffy. Always dry them lying down with the head of the brush off the bench top.
